Your message is converted to a frequency modulated microwave signal and then beamed out into space using a 20 foot high precision parabolic dish antenna. The dish is pointed into space towards the center of the galaxy. Theoretically, this signal can travel forever. We use very simple modulation techniques to ensure the easiest possible detection.

Our microwave transmitter operates in the 2.4 GHz FCC Part 15 frequency band.
